Vietnam joins Baek-je Cultural Festival in RoK

VietNamNet BridgeEighteen artists from the Vietnam Opera and Ballet Theatre and the Hanoi National Music Institute have recently joined the 54th Baek-je Cultural Festival in the Republic of Korea from October 3 to 12.

Central Highlands dance of Vietnamese artists attracted a lot of audiences.

Vietnamese artists performed traditional dance and musical instruments of ethnic minorities in the Central Highlands, the north and the south as well as sang Vietnamese and Korean songs.

During their time there, Vietnamese artists gave performances in the opening ceremony of Baek-je Cultural Festival, in Buyon City and in open stage of Gongju City.

According to deputy director of Vietnam Opera and Ballet Theatre Pham Hong Hai, who led the group, a representative from the Buyon Cultural Department Kim Sung-sik highly appreciated Vietnamese artists among those coming from international art troupes to the festival.

The Cultural Festival of Baek-je (the name of one of the three ancient Kingdoms of Korean Peninsula) is held with the aim of preserving Baek-je cultural identity and attracting more tourists.

Thi year also marks the 700th anniversary of Baek-je Kingdom so that the Festival’s organising board internationalised activities with the invitation of eight foreign troupes from China, Japan, Uzbekistan, Cambodia and Vietnam.
