VietNamNet Bridge – Nguyen Pham Bao Quynh, 19, a student from Hungary, had won against 24 other contestants to become the first Miss Vietnam in Europe in the final competition at Troxy Theatre in London on the night of November 9th.

In the interview round, when she was asked about her future plan, Bao Quynh said: “I want to balance both my career and family. After graduating university, I will get a master’s degree and will get married during that time. I’ll try to become a good wife and a good mother. A happy woman needs both her career and her family.”

Bao Quynh left Vietnam for Hungary at the age of two and can speak and write in Vietnamese very well. She was crowned Miss Vietnamese Student in Hungary in 2007. She has positively taken part in community-based activities of Vietnamese people in Hungary.

She is now a second-year student at the International Relations of the Corvinus University in Budapest. At the recent meeting for young overseas Vietnamese in Moscow this past August, Bao Quynh’s presentation about maintaining and developing Vietnamese language in the community attracted the audience’s attention.

Bao Quynh (1.73m, 52kg, 80-63-92) also works as a model for Open Casting, Bloom Models and Broadway Casting.

The first runner-up was La Ngoc Anh, 20, a student from London, while the second-runner up was Le Xuan Mai, 23, from France.

“Contestants of the Miss Vietnam in Europe 2008 beauty contest speak Vietnamese much better than those of the Miss Vietnam Global 2007. Many of them registered to join the interview round by Vietnamese,” said Duong Xuan Nam, a jury member, who was the chief organizer of many Miss Vietnam pageants.

Contestants for Miss Vietnam have to pass four competitions in swimwear, night gown, ao dai, and an interview. Some famous Vietnamese singers, such as Dan Truong, Thanh Thao, and Phan Dinh Tung, sang at the event.

The pageant was held by the Tri Viet Company. It attracted nearly 200 Vietnamese girls who are living and working in Europe. Twenty-five competitors passed the qualifier rounds.

The bonus for Miss Vietnam in Europe includes a crown, GBP 5,000, and presents. The first runner-up received GBP 3,000 and presents while the second runner-up was granted GBP 2,000 and gifts.

The winners of this contest are potential representatives of international beauty contests.
