Pianist Dang Thai Son is expected to perform at the Da Lat Classical Music Festival next year

Preparations are under way for the Da Lat Classical Music Festival in the Central Highlands’ resort town, the event’s French director said Sunday.

Director Alain Daniel Coudere said the festival would be held sometime between late February and early March 2009 at the Sofitel Dalat Palace and the Evason Ana Mandara Resort.

Vietnamese pianist Dang Thai Son, French violinist Maryvonne Le Dizes and multinational quartet Darius are among those set to share the stage at the festival, according to the director.

Coudere said local Vietnamese were expected to account for 70 percent of the festival’s audience while tourists from neighboring countries would probably make up 20 percent and 10 percent would be from other regions.

The organizers will invite several disadvantaged music lovers and music students to enjoy the free festival and talk with the artists during the event.
