A contestant presents her art submission for the Dance4Life contest in Hanoi Thursday

The top five submissions in the running for the grand prize of Vietnam’s Dance4Life competition were selected after the presentation round in Hanoi Thursday.

The “Standard Chartered Dance4Life Art Contest 2008” was organized to encourage youths aged 13-19 to raise their voices in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

Students from secondary and high schools in Hanoi participated in the month-long contest, jointly launched by Standard Chartered Bank and Dance4Life Vietnam, by using visual art forms to express their experiences and support efforts against the disease.

Students submitted their artworks to their school’s Youth Union which were then displayed at a public exhibition for one week where visitors will vote for the top ten for the Presentation round.

At the presentation round in Hanoi Thursday, contestants who won a spot via public votes presented the ideas, stories and inspiration behind their artwork in front of a panel of judges.

The jury selected five candidates to compete in the Dance4Life Vietnam final event to be held on November 29.

Dance4Life is an international initiative seeking to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and involve young people in combating the stigmas associated with victims of the disease.
