American conductor Mitch Markowitz will lead an international concert on November 18 in Hanoi

A concert titled “A Night of Great Romantic” will take place tomorrow in Hanoi with the participation of international and Vietnamese artists.

American conductor Mitch Markowitz, Australian cellist Markus Stocker and the Hanoi Philharmonic Orchestra will perform masterpieces by great composers including Beethoven, Saint Saens and J. Haydn.

Stocker, dubbed “the aristocrat among the cellists of his generation” by The New York Times, was the first Western musician to visit Hanoi in 1978.

He has led a busy concert career with regular tours to Europe, North America, South Africa and the Far East.

Markowitz founded the National Symphony Orchestra of Myanmar in 2002 and has worked as the orchestra’s conductor and music director since that time. He also teaches violin and viola, coaches chamber music, and founded the Yangon Orchestra in 2005.

The concert will be featured in the Hanoi Opera House, 1 Trang Tien Street, Hoan Kiem District.

Ticket are available for VND250,000 (US$15) at the theater.
