A visitor observes Pham Luc’s “Multicolor Life 2” exhibition at the Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts Museum

Local artist Pham Luc’s 64-painting collection “Multicolor Life 2” opened in Ho Chi Minh City Friday.

The oil-on-canvas, acrylic and lacquer paintings depict the lives of Vietnamese laborers over the past 45 years.

The exhibits, most of which were painted this year, are offered for US$800-4,000 each.

The show marks Luc’s 65th birthday. The artist has been showing his paintings for 45 years.

In October, Luc donated the 5,000 euros ($6,400) he made selling paintings at an exhibition in Nantes, France, to training courses for orphans in the northern province of Ha Nam.

Luc also donated a total of $42,000 he made auctioning five paintings in April and June this year to charities for children affected by Agent Orange and Operation Smile Vietnam, which provides free cleft lip and palate surgeries to underprivileged children.

“Mutlicolor Life 2” will be at the HCMC Fine Arts Museum, at 97A Pho Duc Chinh Street in District 1, until December 15.

At “Multicolor Life 1”, held at the museum last May, Luc sold 180 of the 300 displayed paintings.
