Vietnam Federation of UNESCO Clubs marks 15th anniversary; Yunnan artists to perform in Hanoi; Festival showcases regional culture from southeastern Vietnam

Established in 1993, the VFUC now has a network of nearly 100 member clubs, centres and associations with more than 5,000 official members.

The Vietnam Federation of UNESCO Clubs (VFUC) marked 15 years of operation and received the second-rank Labour Order in Hanoi on Nov. 11.

Established in 1993, the VFUC now has a network of nearly 100 member clubs, centres and associations with more than 5,000 official members.

Over fifteen years of operation, the VFUC has grown into one of the strongest federations in the Asia-Pacific region. Its representatives have been elected deputy chairmen of the world and Asia-Pacific Federations of UNESCO clubs.

The federation has called upon the support of both its members and the general public for the protection and restoration of five historical and cultural relics and the popularisation of two examples of non-tangible Vietnamese cultural heritage, namely Quan ho (love duets of Bac Ninh) and Ca tru (ceremonial singing).

Yunnan artists to perform in Hanoi

A delegation of 30 artists from the Chinese province of Yunnan will stage performances over two nights in Hanoi on Nov. 15 and 16, according to the Arts Performing Dept. of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Their programme, highlighting the unique cultures of ethnic minority groups residing in Yunnan Province, includes songs and dances on the theme of mountain and water affection.

The performance will take place at the Hanoi Opera House and the Military Theatre.

Festival showcases regional culture from southeastern Vietnam

A culture and sports festival organised by ethnic groups in the southeastern region kicked off in Dong Nai Province on Nov. 11.

More than 600 artisans, artists and athletes representing villages in the region, namely Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, Binh Thuan, Dong Nai, Ninh Thuan, Tay Ninh, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Lam Dong, and Ho Chi Minh City, participated in the opening ceremony.

A wide range of activities, including exhibitions of cultural and craft items, traditional art and costume performances, folk games, culinary arts and sport competitions, will be on offer during the three-day event.

The participating art troupes will entertain the locals with a series of separate shows in several districts of Dong Nai Province.
