“Emotion” is the name of a solo exhibition by artist Chinh Le at the Art Vietnam Gallery, 7 Nguyen Khac Nhu, Hanoi from November 15 to December 5, 2008. The exhibition features statues, silk paintings, and poems by Chinh Le. Chinh Le, 39, is a painter, sculptor and a poet. She has had nearly ten exhibitions in Hanoi, HCM City, Finland and Japan. Chinh Le’s latest artworks will be presented at the upcoming exhibition, featuring the latent beauty of the Zen art and its influence in every aspect of life. (Source: TT&VH)
An exhibition entitled “French Architectural Heritage in Hanoi” will be held at the Centre for Information and Exhibition, 45 Trang Tien Street, Hanoi from November 13-20. The exhibition will introduce photos of Hanoi taken in the second half of the 19th century and in the early of the 20th century, through which visitors can get an imagination about Hanoi in the past. Around 20 photos and sketches of old Hanoi, which are archived by the Hanoi Museum, will be on display for the first time. This collection of photos is a gift from the French Government to Hanoi. The event is part of a cooperation program between Hanoi and France’s Il de France region. (Source: ANTD) Da Lat Classical Music Festival 2009 on schedule French director Alain Daniel Coudere said he is working with the local authorities to organize the Da Lat 2009 Classical Music Festival in the resort city of Da Lat, Lam Dong Province. The event is scheduled from February 27 to March 7 at the Dalat Palace Sofitel Hotel and Evason Ana Mandara Resort. The festival will see the participation of Vietnamese pianist Dang Thai Son, South Korean violinist Hae Sun Kang, French violinist Maryvonne Le Dizes, and the Darius quartet, among others. Coudere said the upcoming event aims to promote images of Da Lat and attract music lovers and visitors to the city because Da Lat is the idealist place for artistic activities and tourism in Vietnam.
(Source: Tuoi Tre) Making Pizza with Italian chefs The Italian culinary festival will start at 5.30pm, November 15 at the American Club, 19 Hai Ba Trung, Hanoi. This is an opportunity for those who are interested in Italian culture and want to know more about this country’s culture through Italian cooking. Besides tasting Italian cuisines in sweet Italian melodies, produced by Italian chefs, visitors will have a chance to see how Italian pizza is made through the performance by Italian chefs from Italian restaurants in Hanoi. The program is held by the Italian Embassy in Hanoi, in combination with some Italian restaurants in the city and the Intercontinental West Lake Hotel. Entrance ticket is priced at VND 250,000. (Source: VnMedia) Chopin Night in Hanoi Famous music works by Chopin will be played by pianists from the Vietnam National Conservatory of Music on November 14 at the Hanoi Opera House, on the occasion of the Polish National Day. On this occasion, the Polish Embassy in Hanoi will organize a photo exhibition about Krakow, an ancient city of Poland at the drawing-room of the Hanoi Opera House. Thirty-nine photos featuring Krakow, one of the most famous “wonders” of Poland, will be on display. Frédéric Chopin is widely regarded as the greatest Polish composer, and ranks as one of music’s greatest tone poets. Krakow is one of the largest and oldest cities in Poland. Situated on the Vistula River in the Lesser Poland region, the city dates back to the 7th century. It was the capital of Poland from 1038 to 1596. Krakow has traditionally been one of the leading centres of Polish scientific, cultural, and artistic life. As the former national capital with a history encompassing more than a thousand years, the city remains the spiritual heart of Poland. It is a major attraction for local and international tourists, attracting seven million visitors annually. (Source: Nhan Dan) 13th Central Region-Central Highlands Photo Festival The festival closed in Pleiku city, Gia Lai province on Tuesday, with 40 photos awarded. Two gold awards went to “The Soul of the Central Highlands” by Pham Duc from Gia Lai province and “Waiting” by Thai Bich Thuan from Quang Nam province. More than 130 photos selected from 797 works submitted by 181 photographers will be exhibited in Pleiku as of December 2, 2008. (Source: Lao Dong) Cultural-sports festival of Southeastern region opens The Cultural-sports festival of ethnic groups in the Southeastern region commenced on Tuesday at the Vinh Cuu tourist site in the southern province of Dong Nai, featuring the topic “The color and fragrant of the Southeastern region and cultural identity of Vietnamese ethnic groups.” The event attracts craftsmen, artists and athletes of various ethnic groups in seven southeastern provinces of Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, Binh Thuan, Ninh Thuan, Tay Ninh, Ba Ria – Vung Tau, Lam Dong, HCM City and Dong Nai. Running from November 11-13, the festival includes an exhibition themed “Preserving and developing traditional culture of Vietnam”, an introduction of cultural and handicraft items of ethnic groups in the Southeastern region, festivals and folk games of ethnic groups, a night party and a carnival, food fair, art shows and fashion shows, and sport games. Artists from nine provinces will have performances in 11 districts in Dong Nai. (Source: Tuoi Tre) Lam Dong Tea Festival to become annual event Besides the Da Lat Flower Festival, the Lam Dong Tea Festival will become a yearly event in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong. The second tea festival is set to take place from December 4-17 in Bao Loc Town to advertise and honor Vietnamese tea. The festival will have seven major programs, including the opening ceremony, a fashion show introducing Bao Loc silk, and a tea tasting festival. During the festival, the ASEAN Tea Conference will be held, with the participation of investment at home and abroad. The event is jointly organized by Bao Loc Town and Ngoc Viet Company.
