| Hue city cultural week scheduled in Hanoi; National oil painting exhibition opens; Sea Festival 2009 to see national records set
The Hue Royal Relics Conservation Centre has announced it will organise Hue Cultural Week at the Centre for Vietnam’s Culture and Art Exhibition, 2 Hoa Lu, Hanoi from November 21-25. The event aims to celebrate the 15th year of the Hue Royal Relics recognised as a world cultural heritage site (1993-2008) and 5th year of Hue royal court music recognised as an intangible cultural heritage of humankind (2003-2008). During the week, Hanoi audiences will have a chance to taste Hue cuisine, enjoy Hue royal court music, play royal games, see royal antiques and photos of Hue in the past and at present. National oil painting exhibition opens The Art, Photography and Exhibition Agency has opened the national oil painting exhibition 2008 at the Vietnam Culture and Art Exhibition Centre, 2 Hoa Lu, Hanoi. Of 1,030 paintings sent by 549 painters from 45 provinces and cities, 172 are being displayed at the exhibition. The exhibit will close on November 16. Sea Festival 2009 to see national records set Two national records will be set at the Sea Festival 2009 from June 6-14, 2009 in the coastal city of Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa province, said the province’s Vice Chairman Le Xuan Than. The first is a 100m long environmentally-themed painting. There will be five chief painters, but everyone can participate in this work. Painters will then edit the painting before it is shown to the public. The second record will be a show given by the projected largest folk orchestra in Vietnam, which will consist of artists from the Nha Trang College for Culture, Art and Tourism. The festival, entitled “Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa: civilised and friendly”, will have outstanding activities like a street festival, a Cau Ngu festival (fish worshipping ceremony), book fair, and sand sculplture contest. Some countries in the World’s Best Bays Club and some foreign art troupes will attend the festival. (Source: NN, TT, DT) |
