A veteran Russian pianist will perform with a young Vietnamese pianist at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music next Friday.

Igor Chystokletov and Nguyen Thuy Yen will perform famous works by composers from around the world including Mozart, Brahms, Enrique Granados, Darius Millhaud and Dmitri Shostakovich.

Chystokletov, now a part-time piano lecturer at the HCMC Conservatory of Music, won First Prize at the Soviet National Secondary Schools Professional Piano Competition in 1984 and First Prize at the International Music Festival in Bulgaria in 1988.

He has performed in Bulgaria, Ukraine, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

Nguyen Thuy Yen graduated at the top of her class at the conservatory in 2000. She also obtained a Master’s Degree in Piano Performance in 2005, and has performed in several HCMC concerts.

Tickets are available for VND150.000-200.000 (US$9-$12) at the conservatory, located at 112 Nguyen Du Street, District 1.
