VietNamNet Bridge – Young pianist Tran Thu Le, after six years of studying in Russia, is returning to the stage with a solo performance in HCM City.

To open the concert, Le will perform solo pieces by Haydn, Franck and Scriabin, including Sonata No 23 in F Major, Prelude, Fugue et Variation and 2 Poemes.

Later, Le will highlight Chopin’s music, playing Scherzo No 1.

Conductor Nguyen Anh Son will direct the 60-minute concert.

“I decided to perform in Viet Nam, where my family lives and works together,” said the 27-year-old pianist, a native of Ha Noi.

Le’s love for piano originated in childhood, when her mother, musician Nguyen Ngoc Lan, one of the Ha Noi Music Conservatory’s skilled lecturers, began teaching her.

At the age of eight, she studied piano at the Ha Noi Conservatory. In 1994, she continued her study of music in HCM City’s Music Conservatory, spending 11 years to improve her skills.

In 2002, Le was sent to study piano in Moscow’s Tchaikovsky Music Conservatory.

She studied with music professors Sergei Terekhov and Zinaida Ignatieva, obtaining high marks while obtaining her undergraduate degree.

Returning home, Le says she hopes to play a role in developing the country’s classical music scene.

“For my first performance after studying, I want to show off my deep respect to my Vietnamese and Russian teachers, who supported me in music,” said Le.

The concert will be held tonight at 8pm at the HCM City Music Conservatory, 112 Nguyen Du Street, District 1.

Tickets range from VND60,000 to 100,000 (US$6) each and are available at the theatre’s box office.
