Miss Universe Vietnam 2008’s second runner-up Duong Truong Thien Ly will compete in the upcoming Miss World 2008

Vietnam has finally secured a spot in the upcoming Miss World pageant after a long duration of uncertainty.

Ly will depart for Johannesburg, South Africa this Saturday to participate in the pageant, which is scheduled to be held from November 16 to December 13.

The 19-year-old girl, who is a sophomore at Saint Mary’s College in the US, said she will try to introduce Vietnamese cultural values to the rest of world.

“I am confident in my abilities even though the preparation time is rather short,” Ly said

Ly, who finished third at the International Modeling and Talent Association’s contest in New York this August, was chosen to replace Miss Vietnam 2008 Tran Thi Thuy Dung who was disqualified from attending the Miss World pageant.

Dung was found to not have graduated from high school.

Vietnam will host Miss World 2010, expected to take place in the coastal city of Nha Trang in central Khanh Hoa Province.
