| VietNamNet Bridge – Pham Quynh Anh, who is known for her song “Bonjour Vietnam,” will perform at a Gala Dinner celebrating the European Chamber of Commerce’s (EuroCham) 10th anniversary at the Sofitel Plaza Saigon on November 14.
The singer, 21, will stay in HCM City for five days. After the show, she will go to Hanoi and visit Ha Long Bay in Quang Ninh Province. This is her first time to Vietnam.
“Let’s tell me about the skin color, the hair and the feet that support me since I see the light. Let’s tell me about the house, the road and the things that I don’t know yet⦠I only know my home country through the images of war. One day, I will come there to say hello to Vietnam”.
That’s the lyric of the famous “Bonjour Vietnam” song, performed by Quynh Anh. And now it becomes true when she returns home for the first time.
The singer unveiled “Hello Vietnam” single, the English version for “Bonjour Vietnam”.
Quynh Anh’s Vietnamese language is insufficient to sing this song in Vietnamese but it is hoped that one day she can.
“Bonjour Vietnam” was exclusively written by French popular song writer Marc Lavoine in March 2005 for Pham Quynh Anh. The song was uploaded to the Internet in January 2006 and it was immediately made a phenomena and very popular to the online community of Vietnam and the community of overseas Vietnamese throughout the world.
Quynh Anh’s singing career began with the first prize win at a singing contest for teenagers called “For Glory”, held by the Belgium TV Channel RTBF in late September 2000. She met with famous French song writer Marc Lavoine there. In 2002, she signed a performance contract with Rapas Centre, the French-based branch of Universal.
Quynh Anh was first known by the French-speaking community when she recorded the song “J’espere (I hope)” by Marc Lavoine and has a tour through France, Switzerland, and Belgium.
Quynh Anh is living with her parents and her younger sister in Belgium.
The Gala Dinner on November 14 will have the attendance of some Vietnamese famous singers like Hong Nhung, Duc Tuan, and an American Jazz band. Quynh Anh will sing two songs.
