VietNamNet Bridge – The Vietnam Publishing Association on Sunday announced 44 prizes for the best books of 2008, and 40 prizes for attractively-printed books.

The books that won the prizes for attractive printing and illustrations.

VietNamNet Bridge – The Vietnam Publishing Association on Sunday announced 44 prizes for the best books of 2008, and 40 prizes for attractively-printed books.

The 44 prizes for the best books of the year comprised five gold, 12 silver, 10 bronze and 17 consolation prizes.

The five gold prizes went to: “Truong Chinh – A creative mind, a preeminent talent” by Professor Tran Nham; “Kham Dinh Dai Nam”, a history book by the Hue city History Institute, “Vietnamese multi-culture” by Dang Nghiem Van, “Reference Book of Vietnamese Trees” by Vo Van Chi and “Einstein” by Nguyen Xuan Sanh.

The gold prizes for books with attractive printing and illustrations were presented to: “Vietnam travel story” (3 volumes) by Nam Phong Magazine and painter Mai The Vu, “The history of ca tru” by Nguyen Xuan Dien, painter Hoang Tien Dung, “Kieu Tales” by Nguyen Du, painter Nguyen Anh.

The Best Cover prizes belonged to “Ngu Phong Tuong Cong” by painter Ngo Quang Nam, Kieu Tales in the view of Zhen by senior monk Thich Nhat Hanh, painter Nguyen Dong, “Heroes of the centurial night” by Minh Khoa, painter Mai Que Vu and “Passion for beauty” by Luu Tieu Xuyen, painter Ngo Xuan Khoi.

This year 35 publishing houses participated in the event, with 357 book titles.

The awards ceremony was aired live on VTV1.

This is the first time the Vietnam Publishing Association has presented awards to books on the basis of good content, good covers and attractive printing and illustrations.
