VietNamNet Bridge - The Romanian piano trio will give a performance on December 15 at the Hanoi Opera House on the occasion of 90th National Day of Romania (1918-2008), co-organised by the Vietnamese Art Performance Organising Centre and the Romanian Embassy.

The trio includes pianist Horia Mihail, violinist Alexandru Tomescu and cellist Razvan Suma. All of them have been associate professors at Transylvania University in Brasov for many years and taught in MA courses in Romania, the USA, Japan, the Philippines, Germany, France and Italy.

They are considered the exponents of a new trend among young Romanians with studies abroad – the choice to pursue a blooming career in their native country, thus bringing home the knowledge and experience they acquired overseas.

Pianist Horia Mihail has made his professional debut in his native Romanian city of Brasov, playing Haydn’s D major Concerto at the age of 10. Since then he has appeared over two hundred times as soloist with all Romanian orchestras.

At age 30, Alexandru Tomescu has established himself as one of the most exciting violinists of his generation. His passionate performance, along with a perfect technique, poetry and sensitivity impressed the public of Europe, America and Asia. As a concert soloist of Romanian National Radio Corporation since 2002, he performed over 200 concerts and recitals in 26 countries, in famous halls.

Cellist Razvan Suma, through the impressive repertory he performed in over one hundred recitals and concerts in Europe, America and Asia, R¨zvan Suma proved musical sensibility and intuition, a well polished technique, rendering the style of each piece through his immense diversity of sounds.

The artists will perform works by well-known composers such as Joseph Haydn, Beethoven, George Enescu, and Astor Piazzolla.

The piano trio will also have another performance on December 16 at French Cultural Centre, L’Espace, in Hanoi and hold a lecture and culture exchange with teachers and students on December 18 at the Vietnam National Music Institute.
