VietNamNet Bridge – For the first time, an album with music for the catwalk and a jazz album produced with hi-end technology will come to the local music market.

Musician Vo Thien Thanh said he thought of producing a fashion music album nearly two years ago, when designer Sy Hoang asked him to write music for the designer’s ao dai collections.

Thanh’s idea has come to life with “Listen or Walk”, an album with eight music works written for fashion shows and beauty contests in Vietnam. However, these works were mixed like independent musical compositions.

“I think it is interesting that the audience can imagine the flashy, colourful atmosphere of fashion shows when they listen to this album,” Thanh said.

Thanh used electrical music as the key ingredient, mixed with new age, world music, jazz , and supported by vocalists such as Hong Nhung, Thao Trang, Nam Dong Ke and Cadilac.

The musician said he would produce more fashion music albums in the future.

Besides “Listen or Walk”, another unique music product has been introduced recently, a jazz album entitled “Shadow in the Dark”, the first hi-end music album in Vietnam. The producer of this album is photographer Le Thanh Hai.

Hai said producing a hi-end album requires modern equipment. This album has eight tracks which are popular pieces of Vietnamese music played by famous jazz instrumentalists.

“The album must ensure harmony between the East and the West. This means that Vietnamese people can easily enjoy the music while foreigners who don’t know about Vietnamese music can still understand the music through the intermediary, jazz,” said pianist Vu Trong Hieu, a member of the production group.
