Auction to raise money for disadvantaged children on Tet

VietNamNet Bridge - An auction of 14 paintings by painter Van Duong Thanh and 100 children will take place in a live television program, ‘Joining hands for the community on Tet holiday,’ January 17.

The painting “Happy melody” by Van Duong Thanh.

The show aims to raise funds for giving Tet gifts to more than 10,000 disabled and disadvantaged children and orphans nationwide.

On stage there will also be famous singers, namely Ho Ngoc Ha, My Le, Quang Dung, Miss Vietnam Universe 2008 Thuy Lam, May Trang and Mat Ngoc bands.

The highlights of the auction are two paintings, ‘Beauty of the Spring’ and ‘Happy Melody,’ measuring 1.5 x 2m each by Ms Thanh. The remaining 12 paintings are by children of open houses under the instruction of Ms. Thanh.

“I believe that every artwork will bring to individuals and businesses, who will take part in the auction, a different meaning. The paintings are not only of cultural value, but they are also an effort by disadvantaged children,” said the painter.

The event organized by Ho Chi Minh City TV and Unilever Vietnam will be broadcast live on HTV9 and other channels in Hanoi, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Hue city, Can Tho, Hau Giang and Binh Duong.
