VietNamNet Bridge - Samsung Vina Electronics promoted its upcoming project, a reality TV show, ‘72 hours – Challenging Man’s Endurance,’ Thursday. The show features young people learning how to survive for 72 hours at an isolated setting. It will be aired late March.

The project is also co-organized by Vietnam TV and Thanh Nien Newspaper.

The reality show will bring three teams, who have passed two qualifying rounds, to a mysterious, wild and isolated location. Each team will have to learn how to survive for three days. This is a real adventure for each contestant since they will have to learn how to live like real modern-day Robinson Crusoes.

Each team will be led by celebrity ambassadors, the actor Johnny Tri Nguyen, Thuy Top (model and stylist), and Joe (MC). The teams will start their adventure with Samsung mobiles, first-aid kits and survival kits.

From early morning to late evening everyday, they will receive directions from the organizers to carry out various missions, such as finding cooking and water and building temporary shelter.

Every member is required to prepare some skills like quickly solving situations, thinking on their own and teamwork

Any Vietnamese resident from 18 to 35, who does not suffer from cardiovascular, infection or asthma problems, who is good at one sport, has graduated from high school or higher and is keen can log onto: www.72giothachthucsucben.com to register to take part and upload their profiles.

The organizers will select the ones who best fit the characteristics that meet the requirements of the competition. The names of 18 qualifying candidates will be posted on the website February 23.

The candidates from the first round will gather together in HCM City on March 3 to participate in a whole-day multi-task competition. The candidates are required to complete the five tests in five aspects, including team spirit, teamwork, adventurous nature, and endurance.

Only six candidates will enter the final over March 4-8 with the ambassadors. Each two will cooperate with one ambassador as a team. The three teams will be transferred to a mysterious place and have to survive for three days without any support. The sole means of communication will be their mobile phone.

The wining team will receive VND100 million ($5750) while the runner-ups and third placed team will respectively receive VND20 million (US$1,150) and VND10 million (US$575). In addition, all teams will receive three Samsung mobile phones each.

The first episode will be aired on VTV1 at 9.45pm March 24. Episodes will be aired weekly until April 30.

The organizers plan to broadcast the show on local TV channels Binh Duong and Can Tho. The media sponsor, Thanh Nien, will report and provide updates.
