Vietnamese Song 2008 comes to “Chenh Venh”

A pop song entitled “Chenh Venh” (Precariousness) by Le Cat Trong Ly won the Song of the Year, the most important award of the “Vietnamese Song” contest at the awards ceremony on Sunday night.

Le Cat Trong Ly received the award from the Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Tien Tho.

The song was written by Trong Ly, 21-year-old girl from the central city of Da Nang, based on a fairytale “Tien Dung and Chu Dong Tu.”

The Outstanding Pop Song Awards was presented to “You in My Eyes” by Nguyen Duc Cuong. The song was also performed impressively by the author.

Luu Thien Huong won the Favorite Song Award for “You Will Be a Dream,” a R&B styled song. This song is also a hit in singer Hoang Hai’s Hot album.

Dazzy Da Lam’s “Wonderful Things” received the Outstanding Instrumental Song Award. The song was created based on the story of a little boy named Thien Nhan.

The Effective Music Mixer Awards was presented to musician Thanh Vuong. He also won three awards from the jury for two songs “Afternoon Street” and “Love Song.”

The Impressive Musician Awards went to Ngu Cung rock band for their “Take a Wife” song.

The Creatively Experimental Musician Award was given to a very young girl, Sa Huynh, for her “Li Ti.” Last year Sa Huynh won the Promising Musician award of Tuoi Tre Daily.

Le Cat Trong Ly and Nguyen Duy Hung shared the “Creative Musician” award of Tuoi Tre Daily. Trinh Minh Hien received the Army Art University’s award for “Call Me Hanoi” and Duc Nghia won the Vietnam Musicians’ Association Award for “Lighted Lamp.”

The Dedication Award came to songwriter Hoai Sa. Singer Thuy Chi had the “Most Favourite Singer” Award and the Outstanding Rock Song Award was for Dark Corner by Hai Phong.
