LookAtVietnam – The organizers of the “Green Painting 2009” program held a training class of applied fine arts for more than 350 art teachers and relevant assistants of the program at Minh Sang Plaza (Minh Long 1 Company), Binh Duong Province late last week.

Art teachers concentrate to their works.

For the first time in eleven years the “Green Painting” contest will judge two categories of applied fine arts, drawing onto ao dai and pottery, said Ha Kim Dung, permanent deputy of the program, adding that more than 350 teachers and their relatives expressed their emotions, ideas and creativity as freely as children.

From over 350 submissions the jury has selected the ten most qualified works which will be kept by Minh Long 1 Company as experimental samples for design and production. Artist Nguyen Toan Thi of the jury panel was surprised by some of the work, which presented new and unusual lay-outs.

Three hundred outstanding paintings will be drawn onto pots 30 centimeters in height and 10 centimeters in diameters at Minh Long 1 Company on April 26. The works then will be baked and then judged by the jury panel.

The jury panel chooses 10 best paintings from 350 entries.

Awarded works will be kept as experimental samples or souvenirs by enterprises.

A new board of organizers of the program “Green Painting” has been established for 2009 to 2013. In addition to the HCMC War Remnant Museum and HCMC’s General Sciences Library, the board is composed of four new units including Saigon Times Group, Saigon Times Foundation – STF, TTT Corp., and Y Ngoc-Sy Hoang Gallery Company. Moreover, this year Minh Long 1 Company is a member of the organizers as well as main sponsor of the program.

On April 19, there will be a “Green Painting” contest for students from 4 to 15 years old at 30/4 Park, downtown HCMC with participation of more than 2,000 contestants chosen by art teachers from contests at schools and districts. The contest will be held annually and organizers will display, sell and auction paintings to raise funds in an effort to encourage children’s creativity as well as to support schools to build playgrounds for students.

In the past eleven years the program has received over 630,000 paintings by students from 4 to 15 years old with many drawings on paper as well as on computers applying graphics technology.
