Posters on ’Study and Follow President Ho Chi Minh’s Moral Examples’ campaign exhibited

An exhibition showcasing posters on the theme of ’Study and Follow President Ho Chi Minh’s Moral Examples’ campaign was opened in Hanoi yesterday evening.

The event, organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism drew 80 participating works after two years of launching the movement.

48 posters which reflect Uncle Ho’s thoughts as well as express the affection of the people for Him were chosen to be displayed at the exhibition at 16 Le Thai To Street.

The closing and award presentation ceremony is scheduled to be held on September 2 in Hanoi.

1st student guitar competition launched

Students nationwide will have a chance to show their talent at the first Guitar Competition for Students, jointly organised by the Vietnam Students’ Association, the Vietnam Young Talent Support Fund and The Hanoi Guitar Club.

The first-ever contest aims to look for young guitar talents as well as to encourge guitar practice and enhance artistic sense among students.

The competition’s final round will take place on February 20 with 20 contestants.

Ancient bronze drums found in Quang Nam

Two ancient bronze drums have been discovered in mountainous Axan commune, Tay Giang district of the central province of Quang Nam .

One drum is almost intact and its surface is decorated with a sun and six sunbeams in the middle and four fogs with their heads turning in a clockwise direction.

The other drum has lost the lower part and its surface has a hole in the middle. The four fogs on the surface, meanwhile, look to the anticlockwise direction.

These two ancient drums are on display at the Tay Giang district’s museum.

Vietnam propaganda posters displayed in Spain

40 posters that portray the pride, power and determination of Vietnam in its past struggle for national independence and the present construction are currently displayed at an exhibition in Granada city of Spain.

These are all original paintings, collected from around 500 pieces of arts in Vietnam’s National Museum of Arts.

The exhibition, jointly organised by the Cultural Centre under the Universty of Granada (UGR) and the Asian House - an agency that works to promote relations between Spain and Asian Pacific countries.

Village to be built for young people

The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee has adopted a project to build a village for young people to start up business in Ly Quoc commune, Ha Lang district in Cao Bang province at a total cost of VND21 billion.

The construction, covering 720ha, will be carried out in 3 phases for 100 young households to stabilise their lives.

The project’s objective is to raise the annual income to VND40 million for every household by 2010.
