VietNamNet Bridge - Nearly 500 foreign tourists have turned local farmers for a day in Tra Que village under a tour package offered by the tourism company in the ancient city of Hoi An.

The tourists pay US$25 each to become Hoi An citizens for a day, spending the day picking up local cultivation skills, says the Hoi An Tourist Centre, a subsidy of the Hoi An Tourist Service Joint Stock Company.

Le Tien Dung, deputy director of the company, said the farming package attracted more than 4,500 foreign tourists, bringing in total revenues of US$35.428.

A 50-seat restaurant, due to open in the near future, will provide tourists a new programme that will involve growing and harvesting vegetables, and using them to cook Tra Que specialities, he added.
