Hanoi authorities have agreed in principle the building of a flower road around the Hoan Kiem Lake.

According to the city’s Vice Chairwoman Ngo Thi Thanh Hang, this will be one of the key tasks of the city to promote tourism in 2009 to worth to the capital city.

The official assigned the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to combine with the Department of Transport, the Police Agency, and the People’s Committee of Hoan Kiem District to design the plan and report to the Hanoi People’s Committee.

The city also plans to design one or two major city tours. Accordingly, some tourist cars can be allowed to run in the city’s centre during the peak hours. Some more information kiosks will be built to provide information to tourists.

The Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism suggested releasing a DVD advertising Hanoi’s tourism and culture. This DVD will be broadcast on TV, at tourist sites, on aircrafts, etc.

The city is considering the construction of a tourist information centre at the Noi Bai International Airport.
