Nearly fifty singers in Hanoi, including famous names like Quang Tho, Thanh Lam, and Tung Duong, has suggested the establishment of a Singer’s Association.

Nearly 50 singers met on February 9 in Hanoi.

Northern singers met on February 9 to share their experience and dreams and proposed the establishment of an association for singers in the north.

They wished that the association will gather real singers, who have musical knowledge and have passion for their career, and is the organization to represent singers’ interest.

People’s Artist Thanh Hoa, who initiated this idea, said: “We have Dance Association, Photography Association, and Musician Association. Even models have their association, although this occupation has been existed in Vietnam for over ten years. So why don’t we have a Singer Association? Singers have been under the patronage of the Musician Association for a long time.”

Representing young singers, Honorable Artist Viet Hoan said: “The Singer Association will help protect the interest of singers and raise singers’ awareness of social duties and responsibility.”

“Singers often work independently and it’s time they need to be gathered to create a common power. I hope the association’s leaders will be qualified ones, who can guide other singers,” said Honorable Artist, singer Thanh Lam.

Singers will compile the association’s charters, organization, and development direction before asking the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s permission for the establishment of the Singer Association.

At the meeting, artists discuss a Music Gala which will be held in April, with the participation of forty singers, to raise fund for the Singers’ Charity Fund.
