HCM City prepares for Tet Nguyen Tieu

Tet Nguyen Tieu (the 15th day of the first lunar month), the most sacred holiday in the early part of the year for Chinese-Vietnamese in HCM City, will take place in the city from February 6-9.

The major activities will be held on the evening of February 9 at the District 5 Cultural Centre, with Chinese folk art performances such as kylin-dragon dancing, lantern festival, singing besides folk games and calligraphy.

A large-scale parade will go down Tran Hung Dao, Lao Tu, Luong Nhu Hoc streets. Participants in the procession will be Chinese folk artists, kylin-dragon dance troupes, flower cars, etc. They will go in groups, according to the customs and habits of various regions.

From February 6-8, many art shows and games will be held, organised by the Thong Nhat Art Troupe, HCM City.

Chinese in HCM City will organise their own activities to celebrate Tet Nguyen Tieu on the 15th day of the first lunar New Year, including a ceremony at Nghia An Club and a lantern festival at the Nhi Phu club.
