Korean actress Han Hye Jin addresses the media at a press briefing in Ho Chi Minh City on Thursday

Award-winning South Korean actress Han Hye Jin flew into Ho Chi Minh City on Thursday to generally promote her career as well as the 17th anniversary of Vietnam-South Korea diplomatic relations.

The star of a television series called The Legend of Prince Joo Mong, which is popular across Vietnam, concluded her half-day visit by joining an evening concert hosted by 2004 Miss Korea Han Kyung Jin and Vietnam’s Anh Quan.

Broadcast live on Channel HTV9, the show in Le Van Tam Park, District 1 was the highlight of a festival of Korean and Vietnamese cooking, music and culture.

Han had postponed several engagements in Japan and Republic of Korea to visit Vietnam because, she said, she was aware of the importance of the Vietnam-South Korea relationship and also because she wanted to thank her Vietnamese fans.

She hopes to return here as a tourist or charity worker and is looking forward to appearing in a co-production by the two countries.

Also held to celebrate Sunday’s 17th anniversary of diplomatic ties was a four-day exhibition, which ended Friday, by Korean and Vietnamese painters at the HCMC University of Fine Arts.

On Wednesday, a group of Korean artists visited Phu My Hung in District 7 to meet their compatriots who live in the rapidly developing suburb.

Afterwards they traveled to Cu Chi in the city’s northwest to hand out presents to poor and disabled people.
