Miss Universe 2008 Dayana Mendoza of Venezuela has been named the best of the best by international beauty contest tracker GlobalBeauties.com.

Over 450 beauty queens were considered this year.

“It was a fierce battle between Miss Universe and Miss World, but in the end, by one vote difference, Medoza became the 11th Miss Grand Slam,” said a statement on the website.

Miss World 2008 Ksenia Sukhinova from Russia was the event’s first runner-up while the next four runner-up positions went to Miss Universe 2008’s fourth runner-up Elisa Najera from Mexico, Brazilian beauty Tamara Almeda and Irina Zhuravskaya of Ukraine respectively.

Last year, the Miss Grand Slam title went to Miss Universe 2007’s third runner-up Honey Lee of Korea.

Mendoza was crowned Miss Universe last July in Vietnam’s premier beach town, Nha Trang, in the south-central province of Khanh Hoa.

Also in Vietnam, Mendoza was honored as Miss Ao Dai at the Charming Ao dai (Vietnamese traditional dress) Gala in June.
