Overseas Vietnamese pianists to perform in Hanoi

On February 22, three Vietnamese pianists who are living in Europe will devote to a Hanoian audience classic music works by Chopin under the baton of a Vietnamese conductor in Macedonia, Le Phi Phi.

The three overseas Vietnamese piano talents are Nguyen Viet Trung, Luu Hong Quang and Quynh Aleksander Krzyzanowski. The concert is organized by the Vietnam National Institute of Music at the Hanoi Opera House.

Nguyen Viet Trung, 13, is living in Vacsava, Poland. He began studying piano at the age of 7 under the guidance of reputed professor Filomena Dziedzic. He won the first prize at a contest for young pianists in Zyrardow, Poland at the age of 8.

Since 2004, Trung has won many high prizes at piano contests in Poland. He is seen as a phenomenon in the Polish music circles.

Luu Hong Quang, 19, was born into a family of musicians. He was a student of Dr. Tran Thu Ha, the former Director of the Vietnam National Institute of Music from 1996-2006. Quang earned a full scholarship to study at the Australia International Conservatory of Music in 2006.

Quang has won a special prize at the Chopin International Piano Contest in Japan in 2006, the third prize at the 19th Century Piano Contest in Australia in June 2008, and the first prize at the Recital International Piano contest in Australia in August 2008, among other prizes.

Quynh Aleksander Krzyzanowski, 18, was also born into a family of musicians. Her grandfather is La Huu Quynh, a famous musician. Quynh Aleksander Krzyzanowski is a Vietnamese-Polish girl. She studied piano at the age of six under the guidance of Polish professor Janina Butar.

She also studied at the Tchaikovsky in Russia in 2002-2004, and returned to Poland in 2004. She also took many international awards, namely the first prize of the Altberg contest in 2001, the first prize of the Ludwika Stefankiego contest in 2002, the special prize of C. Czernego contest in the Czech Republic in 2003, and the first prize of the Konin contest in 2008.

She performed at many big music festivals in Japan, Spain, Russia, Lithuania, Estonia, Ukraine, and Poland. He is now a student of pianist Dang Thai Son.
