LookAtVietnam – Winners of the national photo competition Viet Nam 24/7 will be getting their glad rags ready for March 1 for the prize-giving ceremony in HCM City.

A moment in time: The first-prize A Cham Class (above) by Nguyen Ngoc Khung and the second-prize Mot Goc Xuan (The Spring’s Corner, right) by Ho Thuy Tan Uyen.

Over 400 photographers entered the competition, organised by VNPhoto.net and Canon, with more than 1,300 photos submitted.

Six winners were selected in total, three by a jury board and three via online public vote. Top prize winner selected by the jury, Nguyen Ngoc Khung, will receive a Canon camera LS450D worth US$1,050 for his entry A Cham Class.

Public favourite, Nguyen Duc Thang, will get VND3,000,000 for his work Earning a Living.

Viet Nam 24/7 Was open to both amateur and professional photographers of all ages. Kicked off in October, the event lasted for two months and welcomed all categories of photography, including computer enhanced images.

VNPhoto.net is a popular website among national photography-lovers. Set up in 2003, the website now attracts millions of hits each month.

“We want Viet Nam 24/7 to become an annual competition,” says Nguyen Minh Tam, a member of VNphoto.net’s management board.

“Hopefully, it will broaden Viet Nam’s photographic culture, as well as enrich images of Viet Nam and bring them to a wider global audience.”

The company aims to open the next competition in April.
