Pianist Dang Thai Son will play a free show in Hanoi this Friday

World-renowned pianist Dang Thai Son will play Chopin, Faure and Ravel at a free Hanoi Opera House concert on Friday.

Son is scheduled to perform the Barcarolle Fis Dur, Six Mazurkas and Scherzo

No.2 B moll by Fryderyk Chopin, Nocturnes No. 1 and No. 2 by Gabriel Faure, and pieces from Maurice Ravel’s magnum opus Miroirs.

The Hanoi-born artist will take part in an audience discussion after the concert, which has been organized by the Hanoi Conservatory of Music, Champion Vietnam and Techcombank.

Dang Thai Son was the first-ever Asian artist and only Vietnamese pianist to win the 10th International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw in 1980.

The pianist, now 51, has played with world class orchestras in more than 40 countries, including the Leningrad Philharmonic, the Montreal Symphony Orchestra and the Dresden Philharmonic.

Since 1987, he has been a visiting professor at the Kunitachi Music College in Tokyo and currently teaches at the University of Montreal in Canada.

Free tickets are available at 1 Trang Tien Street, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi.
