The Vietnamese Embassy in Japan on February 25 organised a cooking fair to introduce Vietnamese food to Japanese people and the international community at large to highlight the country’s cuisine.

The event is the first activity to be launched this year by the Asia Pacific Women’s Association and the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan, with a view to promoting Vietnam’s culture through its food, according to Le Thieu Ngan, wife of the Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan.

Dozens of guests, including Japanese officials and foreign diplomats in Japan, attended the event. All the guests had the opportunity to taste Vietnamese food and were shown how to choose the ingredients and cook traditional foods such as noodle soup, fried spring rolls and steamed rice pancakes.

In the future, the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan plans to introduce the international community to the special cultural features of every Vietnamese region.
