Pang My Nguyen of Vietnam has won a best nail design award at the Nails Asia 2009 contest in Singapore.

Her “Angel of Love” defeated more than 20 creations by nail artists from Asia, Australia and the US to win Nguyen first prize in the Mixed Media Nail Art Design category.

The 22-year-old spent two weeks designing and preparing the materials, and was given one hour to work on the left hand of Vietnamese model Hoang Yen.

“I love all kinds of painting. With nail painting, my favorites are angels and any creatures with wings,” Nguyen said afterwards.

Back in Vietnam, Nguyen teaches at the Kelly Pang Nail Art School in Ho Chi Minh City run by her sister Pang My Linh, who scored a top prize at Nails Asia 2008.

Now into its third year, Nails Asia was part of the Beauty Asia 2009 show at Suntec City Convention Center.

The four categories in the three-day competition, which ended Wednesday, drew 122 contestants.
