Award-winning cartoon Le Papillon to be screened at IDECAF on Saturday

A monthly program presenting French animation works will begin Saturday in Ho Chi Minh City.

Organized by the French Consulate General in HCMC, the program, held until the end of this year, will introduce Vietnamese audiences to the works of major animation producers in France.

The first screening will introduce the award-winning Le Papillon (Butterfly) that depicts the story of a samurai. The film is directed by Antoine Antin and Jenny Rakotomamonjy.

Versus by François Caffiaux, Romain Noel, and Thomas Salas, which won the T-Com 3D Space Award, is about two samurai clans fighting for a little island in the middle of their own rather isolated islands.

Grégoire Sivan’s Premier Voyage narrates a new father’s train journey with his 10-month old daughter while Nicolas Deveuax’ 7 tonnes 2 (7 tons 2) has an elephant jumping on trampoline.

Le Château des autres (The other kid’s castle) by Pierre-Luc Granjon and Entre deux miettes (Between two crumbs) by Sylvain Ollier will round off the screening. Most of the films are seven to ten minutes long.

The screenings will take place at the Institute of Cultural Exchange with France (IDECAF) on 28 Le Thanh Ton Street in District 1. Tickets, which cost VND15,000, can be purchased at the IDECAF office.
