New Hue royal court music preservation project unveiled

The project entitled “Implementing the national action plan to protect Vietnamese royal court music” having ended, a new one will be carried out in 2010-2012, it has been announced.

The new project aims to further research the characteristics of, further digitalise royal court music, restore typical songs and music pieces, the traditional environment for royal court music through organising festivals, training musicians and researchers.

Vietnamese photography forefather commemorated

The Culture and Art Union and the Photographic Artists’ Association of the central province of Thua Thien-Hue on March 14 organised an incense offering ceremony to commemorate Dang Huy Tru, the forefather of photography in Vietnam, at the Dang family temple in Thanh Luong village, Huong Xuan commune, Huong Tra district.

Dang Huy Tru was the founder of the Cam Hieu Duong photo shop, the first camera shop in Vietnam, on March 14, 1869 in Hanoi.

On this occasion, the Vietnamese Photographic Artists’ Association and the Thua Thien-Hue Photographic Artists’ Association have organised two photo exhibitions. One exhibition is of 110 photos and the other 49 photos taken by photographers in Thua Thien-Hue that have won local and international prizes.

The exhibitions are being organised at 4 Hoang Hoa Tham Street and 26 Le Loi street, Hue city from now till March 20.

“Seeing”, photo exhibition of painters

A photo exhibition sponsored by twin painters Thanh and Hai entitled “Seeing” opened on March 14 at the New Space Arts Foundation, 3 Hung Vuong street, in the central city of Hue.

The exhibition showcases 50 photos taken by four painters in Hue city, Tran Thanh Son, Hai Bang, Le Huy and Truong Thien, and photographer Ho Ngoc Son.

“We took photos with ideas, we did not pay attention to technical aspects, so the exhibition is named ‘Seeing’,” said painter Phan Hai Bang.
