World-famous guitarist Magnus Andersson will perform S at HCMC’s Conservatory of Music next month

Renowned modern guitarist Magnus Andersson will perform next Friday at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music.

The 1992 Grammy nominee will participate in the “Friendship” concert with the conservatory’s lecturers including soloists Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao and Duong Kim Dung, as well as guitar duo Nguyen Thanh Huy and Huynh Ba Tho.

Andersson studied at London’s Trinity College of Music and Italy’s Viotti Music Academy.

At age 28, he established a guitar class for the International Summer Courses for New Music in the German city of Darmstadt, where he taught until 1996.

The 53-year-old Swede is now a guest teacher at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm.

Andersson received the Composers Union Interpreter Prize in 1983 when he was 27.

He was also awarded the following three consecutive years with the Kranischsteiner Prize in Darmstadt and two Swedish Gramophone Prizes.

Tickets are available for VND150,000-200,000 (US$8.50-11.30) at the conservatory, 112 Nguyen Du Street, District 1.
