Disadvantaged children will display their paintings at an exhibit in Hanoi this week

A charity art exhibit with some 50 paintings and Vietnamese flute kites called “I have a dream” opened in Hanoi Saturday in an effort to support underprivileged children.

According to Phi Thi Thu Khuyen, organizer of the exhibit, 100 pieces created by 159 children living in several orphanages in Hanoi have received help and instruction from 100 members of two voluntary organizations including Nguoi Viet Tre (Young Vietnamese) and the Cracking Club.

Painter Nguyen Thi Van Ha, who is also the sponsor of the exhibit, has chosen 50 pieces to be displayed at Maison de Art, 31A Van Mieu St., Dong Da Dist., Hanoi.

“The art exhibit aims to bring happiness to those unlucky lives and boost their creativity,” Khuyen says.

A similar exhibit launched last year by the Young Vietnamese Club for children of the fishing villages near the Hong (Red) River and the Dong Xuan area also received support from local communities.

“I have a dream” will last until Wednesday next week.
