New Zealand’s Minuit is set to rock Hanoi on April 25

A humanitarian concert featuring popular bands from the Philippines, England, Canada, New Zealand and Ireland is set to rock Hanoi and raise funds for landmine done by the clearing Mines Advisory Group (MAG).

The concert will be held on April 25 in Hanoi at the American Club on Hai Ba Trung Street.

UK-based MAG has been working in several mine clearance programs in Vietnam since 1999 and this is the third concert organized to finance their upcoming landmine clearance projects in the central provinces of Quang Binh and Quang Tri.

The International Concert 3 will attract several bands like The Props from England, Girl and the Machine from Canada, The Dorques from the Philippines and electro-pop band Minuit from New Zealand.

British media personality James Harries will also share the stage with Irish beat-boxing band White Noise and other popular DJs like Red-I (The Philippines), Funk’nslocuts (New Zealand), Jase, C.A.M.A Sound System and Tri Minh (Vietnam).

“This will be the most wonderful concert we’ve ever held. The bands, the music, the cooking and the entertainment will make the event memorable for its humanitarianism,” says concert organizer Dan Dockery.

The concert, organized by Minsk Viet Nam and C.A.M.A, will see local and international artists joining forces to help clear remnants of the Vietnam War that continue to inflict violence on innocent civilians, including children. The 1st and 2nd versions were held last year.

Vietnam is one of the world’s worst-hit countries by bombs and landmines. According to the national military estimate, there are still 350,000 tons of bombs and landmines left under-ground; 100,000 accidents have been recorded since 1975; and some 1,000 deaths and injuries are reported every year.

The event will start receiving guests from 12:30 p.m. at the American Club, 19-21 Hai Ba Trung St., Hanoi and will last until 23:00.

Tickets are priced at VND200,000 (US$11.23) at the entrance. However, a 25 percent discount will be offered at several venues in Hanoi such as Highway 4 (3-5 Hang Tre St.), Cheeky Quarter (1 Ta Hien St.), MAG’s office (202/B1, 298 Kim Ma St.), Puku Café (60 Hang Trong St.), Ballad Saloon (105 D7m Alley 4D Dang Van Ngu St.), Boo Skateshop (84 Hang Dieu St., 38 Le Dai Hanh St.) and Ban Mai Café (1, Alley 26, Nguyen Hong).
