“Don’t Burn”, a feature film based on the famous Dang Thuy Tram’s Diary, has been chosen to open a special film month, which will run from April 29 to May 20.
“Don’t Burn” highlights Dang Thuy Tram’s spirit
This programme is being held to celebrate the country’s unity day (April 30), the May Day, the Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7) and the birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19).
According to the chief of the Cinema Agency, Le Ngoc Minh, the opening ceremony will take place in Hanoi on April 29 and on April 30 in Dien Bien. The two locations will be the centres of this film programme.
Three newly-produced movies will be introduced on this occasion, namely the celluloid movie “Don’t Burn”, and two video films, “Clouded Pha Din” and “Timbre of Night”.
After being screened for free on the opening day, “Don’t Burn” will be introduced at cinemas. Ticket revenue will be transferred to the Cinema Development Assistance Fund to help young film directors.
“Don’t Burn” is based on the Dang Thuy Tram’s Diary, and directed by senior director Dang Nhat Minh.
“Clouded Pha Din” is a story about soldiers who liberated Dien Bien and voluntarily brought their families to this land.
“Timbre of Night” features the family of a Dien Bien veteran in the 1980s who had to cope with many difficulties to raise two Agent Orange child victims.
Other works that will be screened include a video documentary entitled “Vietnam”, presented by Russian film producers, Vietnamese feature movies like “Dien Bien Memory”, “Red Bauhinia Flower”, “Hanoi in the 1946 Winter”, “Five Days in a General’s Life”, “Letter’s Way”, “Life”, and the documentaries “The Song on Ta Lung Peak”, “Permanent Statue”, and “Dien Bien Phu Golden Landmarks”.
