Pop icon Dam Vinh Hung admits shopping really has become an addiction

Among local artists, singer Dam Vinh Hung (who is nickname Mr. Dam) is one of the craziest about shopping.

“Shopping really has become an addiction for me. I don’t smoke cigarettes or drink, so shopping is the way I release stress,” Hung says.

He adds, “I never keep an exact account of how much money I spend on my clothes. I sometimes buy nothing for a month but on occasions like birthdays, festivals and the Tet (Lunar New Year), I indulge myself.”

He has more than 400 pairs of shoes in his closet.

With so many clothes in his wardrobe, he can’t wear all of them and they go out of fashion before they’re used, but he still keeps them as souvenirs.

“Maybe I will set up a showroom to display them all. An auction is also a good idea,” Hung says.

“Some day I will open an auction and give the money to the poor.”
