This was the eighth film festival for Indian and Asian films. Nine selected films made it to the final round and 12 films were screened. The most striking was The way we are by Hong Kong director Ann Hui who has won many honored awards at the Hong Kong Film Awards and the Hong Kong Film Critics Society Awards. The Best Film award went to a Pakistani film.

“I am happy because Trang noi day gieng has continued to enjoy praise at a film festival even though I did not attend the festival,” said Son. In December, the film’s heroine Hong Anh won the Best Actress award at the Dubai International Film Festival 2008. Thereafter, the film took the Silver Kite award for the Best Feature Film at the 2008 Golden Kite Awards, Vietnam’s premier film awards.

Son said that the movie would be entered in other international film festivals in the coming time such as the Sydney Film Awards in Australia, the Munich Film Awards in Germany and other film festivals in the U.S. and in Vancouver, Canada.
