Miss World Pageant’s Chairman David Z. Marmel and TV director Jeffrey Andosky have been in HCM City to shoot a nine-minute clip advertising Vietnam.

This clip will be broadcast on Star World channel during the live-broadcast of Mrs. World 2009 pageant in the southern city of Vung Tau, Vietnam on November 22.

“Vietnam is the specialty of this year’s programme in Vietnam,” said Jeffrey Andosky, who has been the general director of eight Mrs. World beauty contests.

Mrs. World originated from the Mrs. America contest, which was held for the first time in the US in 1977. This is a playground where married women show off their mature beauty, brainpower and knowledge of social issues and marriage.

According to a dispatch released by the Vietnamese government in February 2009, a steering board will be set up to oversee the event, headed by Minister Hoang Tuan Anh.

The contest will see the participation of hundreds of women from all over the world. Mrs. World 2008 Shmarennova Natalya (Ukraine) and the two runners-up of Mrs. World 2008 will attend the event.

Vietnam’s CIAT Company is the sole agent that chooses Vietnamese contestants for the Mrs. World pageant as of this year.

Doan Thi Kim Hong participated in Mrs. World 2006 and won the title of Favourite. Miss Vietnam 1990 Nguyen Dieu Hoa was among the top five contestants of Mrs. World 2008.
