Miss Vietnam Universe 2008 Thuy Lam and second runner-up Thien Ly, who represented Vietnam at last year’s Miss Universe and Miss World, have had a meeting with Vo Hoang Yen, Vietnam’s contestant in the Miss Universe 2009.

Thuy Lam told Hoang Yen that confidence and independence are very important for contestants, shown through making themselves up, doing their own hair, preparing clothes and participating in activities. Thuy Lam reminded Hoang Yen to take advantage of every minute she could to sleep.

Miss Universe Vietnam also emphasised the spirit of “honouring the community” through obeying the organising board’s rules.

“Don’t make your manager busy because they are the bridge of information between you and the organisers and the jury,” she told Hoang Yen.

The three beauties pose with representatives of Hoan Vu Company and John Robert Powers School.

Thien Ly, who is the “manager” of Hoang Yen at the Miss Universe 2009, said that the winners of Miss Universe 2008 and Miss World 2008 had one thing in common: confidence. She told Hoang Yen to show herself off at every activity.

According to Thien Ly, Hoang Yen should show herself off through clothes, the expression on her face and performance skills.

She emphasised that the contest will be very long (around 3 weeks), with unannounced schedules and destinations. She advised Hoang Yen to take care of her health to be able to remain strong through the end.

Hoang Yen said the meeting provided her with valuable information to prepare for the upcoming contest.
