The Vietnamese representative at Miss World 2008 pageant Duong Truong Thien Ly has been invited to be the “national director” in charge of managing and consulting with Vo Hoang Yen at Miss Universe 2009.

“In this position, Thien Ly will directly work with the Miss World organising board. Thien Ly will also join us to help Hoang Yen prepare for Miss World 2009 pageant,” said Diem Ly, deputy marketing manager of the Hoan Vu Company, which has the right to send a Vietnamese competitor to Miss World pageant.

Hoan Vu Company expects that with her experience at Miss World 2008 contest, Thien Ly will transfer valuable experience to Hoang Yen. Thien Ly’s role as national director will end when Miss Universe 2009 closes.

Returning to Vietnam one week ago from the US, Thien Ly met with Hoang Yen. “I’m glad to assume this position. I hope to help Yen have the best preparation for the event. I have strong belief in Yen’s potential as Vietnam’s representative at Miss World 2009 pageant,” she said.

The two girls were both contestants in the Miss Universe Vietnam 2008. At this contest, Hoang Yen was the first runner-up and Thien Ly the second runner-up.

Thien Ly will go to the Bahamas before the final night of Miss World 2009 to help Hoang Yen.

At last year’s Miss World, Thien Ly, 20, won the Most Favourite title (online vote).
