For the first time a week for international documentary films will be held at the Central Documentary and Scientific Film Company in Hanoi from June 15-19.

Some outstanding Vietnamese and foreign documentaries, selected by the Central Documentary and Scientific Film Company and the embassies of some European countries in Vietnam, will be introduced this time.

Vietnam will contribute the following films: “Tro Lai Ngu Thuy” (Return to Ngu Thuy), “Bai Ca Tren Dinh Ta Lung” (Song on the Ta Lung Peak) and “Gam Cau Mat Nuoc” (Water under Bridge).

Germany, Italy, Belgium and Switzerland will present the documentaries “Once Upon a Time… Simple Pleasures” (Italy), “The Winner and the Loser” (Germany), “War Photographer” (Switzerland) and Mizike Mama (Belgium).

The most noted documentary is “War Photographer”, which won many international awards and received an Academy Award nomination for best documentary film.

In this film, director Christian Frei followed famous war photographer James Nachtwey through many “hot spots” in the world, such as Kosovo, Palestine and Indonesia to learn about his daily life through a super-small camera stuck on James Nachtwey’s camera.
