After six years of being organised in HCM City, HCM City Television Station’s “TV host” competition named En Vang (Gold Swallow) has gone to the north for the first time.

Nhu Quynh has become a professional TV host after winning the Gold Swallow Award 2007.

HCM City Television Station’s (HTV) host Trinh Le Anh, who is in charge of the selection in the north, said that the number of contestants is very large. However, he refused to disclose any further information about contestants and the jury.

The competition, which aims to seek talented TV hosts, runs from July 1 to August 15. It is open to all Vietnamese citizens from 18-30 years old for men and 18-28 for women. Contestants must have at least a high-school diploma and be able to speak at least one foreign language.

Those who won the Gold and Silver Swallow prizes in last year’s contest will enter this year’s semi-final round.

Contestants will have to show their skills in hosting music, economic, politics, sports, social-culture and game shows.

The preliminary round in the north took place on July 19 in Hanoi and it will be held in HCM City from July 21-24 for contestants in the south.

The semi-finals will take place at the HCM City Television Theatre on July 26. The finals will be organised at the HCM City Television Theatre and the Hoa Binh Theatre, HCM City, on August 5, 7, 8, 12, 15 and 20.
