LookAtVietnam – A concert to commemorate Michael Jackson, the King of Pop, will be held tonight, July 16 in Ha Noi at no cost to fans.

Event organiser Nguyen Thuy Huong intended to hold the show in September but then decided to hold it sooner after Jackson’s recent passing.

A Michael Jackson look-alike competition will be held at 10pm. The winner will be judged based on clothes, manners, singing, dancing and moonwalk. The organising board will give 100 free felt hats to competitors who register soon.

“Michael is a music symbol, his style has influenced admirers throughout the world,” Huong said. “A masquerade will give the audience a chance to express their love.”

Competitors will enjoy free drinks at the event. The winner will receive a Jackson-like jacket designed by Ha Linh Thu.

Audience support will be a key factor in making the programme successful, Huong said.

“Michael’s songs will be performed by lovers of his music, not lead singers. The venue is a restaurant, not a theatre, so we hope audience members will join in on all the acts with enthusiasm.”

Curtains will rise at 9pm this evening at Angelina Restaurant, in the Metropole Hotel, 59 Ly Thai To street, Ha Noi.

Due to limited seating, only 130 fans will be welcomed to the concert. Seventy seats had already been reserved as of yesterday afternoon. People who make efforts to look like Jackson will be given priority for the remaining seats.
