Pop star Dam Vinh Hung is to go on a nationwide tour from August 4-22

Dam Vinh Hung may have won the hearts of fans nationwide, but he holds out little hope that he’ll ever experience a lasting romance.

“I’ve had supreme feelings in love and I’ve lived with my lovers before. But the longest love story I’ve been a part of only lasted five years,” said the veteran vocalist who has spent a decade topping the Vietnamese charts.

“After scores of difficulties in my love life, the everyday hardships and arguments made me realize I’m out of the race of love.”

Hung said that Asian fans in places like Vietnam or Korea turn their backs on artists who get married.

“At first, it was pretty sad when I realized that and saw all the real-life examples,” said Hung. “But now I know I have to sacrifice my private life for a long and successful career.”

New tour

Dam Vinh Hung’s delicate lyrics and haunting melodies have been inspiring fans nationwide for the last ten years.

Though the emotional songster holds little optimism for finding his soul-mate, he’s still excited for his upcoming August tour, which will see him and several other veteran artists travel Hanoi, Hai Phong, and Da Nang cities and Khanh Hoa Province from August 4-22.

Performing alongside Hung will be some of the country’s biggest names, including Quang Dung, Cam Ly, comedian Hoai Linh and singer Thanh Lam, whom Hung has described as his own personal idol.

The show, “The Best of Dam Vinh Hung: Lovers,” will take place at Khanh Hoa’s Provincial Cultural Center on August 4 and 5, Hanoi’s National Conference Center on August 8, Hai Phong’s Viet-Czech Labor-Friendship Cultural House on August 14 and 15, and Da Nang’s Trung Vuong Theater on August 21 and 22.
