The Pottery Road has been being put together for the past year. At this moment, nearly 1500sq.m of pottery paintings have been completed. The road runs from An Duong to Van Kiep gates, and features many different topics.
The first section, called A1, features the history of Vietnam from the Dong Son civilisation through the Ly, Tran, Le and Nguyen dynasties. The second section, A2, shows typical brocade patterns and architectural arts of the 54 ethnic groups in Vietnam. The third section, A3, comprises pottery paintings of Vietnamese and foreign children, with the theme “Hanoi – The City for Peace”. The fourth to the ninth sections are contemporary pottery paintings of Vietnamese and international painters.
Apart from the paintings of Danish painter Michael Geertsen and Frenchman Dominique de Miscault, which are already on the Red River Dike, many artists from the UK, the US, Italy, Spain and Finland have registered to join the project.
Learning about this project, Sojja Vitulic in Argentina called for the building of a pottery wall to celebrate the May Revolution 1810 in Argentina.
Artists participating in the Hanoi Pottery Road will present ten square metres of pottery paintings to Sonja Vitulic via the Argentinean Embassy in Hanoi.
Painter Nguyen Thu Thuy, who initiated the Pottery Road project, said that the Pottery Road is trying to acquire the Guinness Record 2010 for the longest pottery road in the world.
