Pianist Nguyen Van Anh has won two awards at the National Australian Concerto & Vocal Competition 2009 in Townsville, North Queensland.

Van Anh, 22, was the youngest among the 31 contestants in the contest that ran from July 18-24. She entered the top five best artists of the Grand Finals at Riverway Arts Centre on July 24.

The Vietnamese-Australian girl played Rhapsody on a theme of Paganini (Rachmaninoff) at the Grand Finals. She won third-place and the Audience Choice Award.

Van Anh returned to Vietnam to perform piano in November 2005. She also participated in the Autumn Melody concert in August 2006.

She is now a professional pianist in Australia who is in charge of a music school for children in Sydney named Vivo Music School.
