LookAtVietnam – The two-day exhibition of the longest coconut-shell mosaic of Anh Hung Dien Bien (Dien Bien Heroes) created by artist Vo Quy Quoc, director of Dong Nai province-based Hac Thien Viet Co. Ltd., wrapped up at the HCMC Exhibition Center on Sunday.

Artist Vo Quy Quoc explains his mosaic of Anh Hung Dien Bien (Dien Bien Heroes) at the HCMC Exhibition Center.

The picture covers the entire decade-long story of the preparation leading to the legendary military victory at Dien Bien Phu Battlefield. The heroic story comes up from the very early stage of Vietnam under French colonization to the establishment of Vietnam Peoples’ Military force under the leadership of President Ho Chi Minh and General Vo Nguyen Giap in 1944 to unite the revolts. It also tells of sideline military campaigns leading to the world-known incident at Dien Bien Phu Battlefield that put an end to the French reign over the country in May 1954.

The two historical figures of President Ho Chi Minh and the undefeated General Vo Nguyen Giap are highlighted throughout the picture that includes nine sections. The mosaic required over 100 liters of glue, 9,000 pieces of coconut shells and a team of workers 40 days of painstaking labor at a cost of over VND1 billion.
